n March 28, MASK hosted its first annual
“Moms Making a Difference” Unity Award
Luncheon. Held at the Phoenician Resort,
the event recognized the work of 28 passionate
and dedicated women, all of whom are working
to improve the lives of families and children.
MASK founder Kimberly Cabral kicked off the
luncheon with a heartfelt tribute to the nominees, their
causes and organizations, and the people who support them.
Keynote speaker Dr. Dena Cabrera, a clinical psychologist
and expert in the treatment of eating disorders, then shared
her own story of resiliency and determination, showing
that through one’s passion, you can accomplish anything.
CBS 5 news anchor Catherine Anaya emceed the
event, introducing the nominees and their stories. At
the end of the program, Lauren Daniels, founder of
the Happily Ever After League (HEAL), was awarded
the 2012 Unity Award for her dedication to serving
and assisting mothers undergoing cancer treatment.
