There’s no question that digital technology has significantly transformed our—and our children’s—lives. Thanks to the Internet, children are learning in ways unheard of mere decades ago. They’re making and maintaining friendships with more people and more often; and they’re engaging with a wider and more diverse society.
UNICEF’s “State of the World’s Children 2017: Children in a Digital World” report reveals that one in three Internet users is younger than 18 years old and 71 percent of 15- to 24-year-olds are online, making them the most connected age group worldwide. While this connectivity is filled with educational, career and interpersonal opportunities and benefits, it can also bring risks.
For any parent raising a child in the digital age, it’s important and imperative to know what those dangers are and how to keep your children not only safe, but also how to arm them with the knowledge and education to safeguard their online presence.
