My Sparks Story is:

I am from Douglas, AZ Agua Preieta, Sonora. I grew up living in Mexicao and going to school in the U.S. Both my parents never finished college, they both dropped out. When I was in high school I applied for many scholarships because I had no idea how I was going to be able to go to college. I was accepted and offered various scholarships at different universities but they weren’t enough. I did not want to take out loans or put my parents in debt. I decided to attend Cochise College in Douglas, but two weeks before graduation I received a great phone call. ASU gave me the Obama Scholarship which was a full ride. I decided to come to ASU and it is the best decision I ever made, now I an on my third year majoring in Social Work with a minor in Psychology.

My Sparks Story is:

I am a sophomore at the Downtown ASU campus studying exercise and wellness. Growing up I was expected to attend college and become a doctor or and engineer like every Indian parent wants. My dad got an engineering degree from University of Michigan, and my mom has a degree in business from India. Throughout high school I wanted to study inter-nation business marketing with a minor in French as a fourth language. My dad shot that idea down. Luckily I was an athlete and an athletic trainer for football, basketball and baseball. That is where I got my passion to pursue physical therapy with athletes. Luckily I get to do what I love.

What I like best about MASK and working with students:

I love being able to inspire and advise students like people did when I was younger. Plus O lobe working with students and children because they are innocent and inspiring.
