Sweet Nothing

 

Who doesn’t like oreos, and if they are in the pantry I guarantee they will be gone before the carrots are in the fridge. Not having sweet delicious snacks in the home is a tough decision for parents, but that is the big decision as parents we have to make at the supermarket. If you bring chips and cookies home, your kids will naturally want to have them.

 

Restricting once you buy will only cause them to crave them more, and that is not the message you want to send. If you have healthy options available at home: fresh fruit cleaned and ready, carrot sticks, pretzels and nuts your children will start to turn to snacks that actually have a health benefit. Have them chopped up and ready in small plastic bags so they “ feel “ like a treat and ready to grab on the go. Choose to share with them those snacks we call the “sometimes” foods for special occasions. Remember they won’t miss what’s not there.
