Why MASK?

MASK (Mothers Awareness on School-age Kids) is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization created in 2007 by a group of dedicated mothers who recognized the need to consistently educate families on rapidly changing issues. The MASK mission is to engage and educate parents, children and the community about the issues facing our youth and to empower children to make safe, healthy choices.

MASK fulfills its mission by engaging, educating and empowering families through the MASK Pre-K, MASK Academy, MASK Prep, Parent University, E3 Summer Camps, MASK The Magazine and our vastly informative website.

Through these platforms MASK offers parenting solutions for today’s families. MASK tackles important topics – from drugs and alcohol to bullying and Internet safety -and gives students, parents and the community the knowledge and tools to manage these potential challenges.

We live in a fast-paced, time deprived world and it’s not easy to keep up with the latest information and trends affecting children. We want to help you and your family navigate through the school-age years by providing information and solutions about various issues before they may even arise.

Why MASK The Magazine?

MASK The Magazine is a quarterly convenient way to receive information about these important matters.  Each issue of the award-winning MASK The Magazine tackles a specific topic in-depth and examines how it can affect kids from pre-kindergarten to college. You’ll learn age-appropriate conversation starters, which can help open the lines of communication between you and your child(ren). MASK The Magazine is packed with advice and will prepare and equip you with the knowledge, resources and skills to help strengthen parent-child bonds.

MASK E3 Institute begins in pre- kindergarten and continues through college, children are educated through the MASK E3 Institute at a developmentally age-appropriate level on a wide variety of topics such as bullying, peer pressure, self-esteem, alcohol and substance use/abuse, communication, and technology safety etc. The E3 Institute includes MASK Pre-K (Storytime),MASK Academy (K-6th grade), MASK Prep (middle and high school), MASK Leadership (college) and Parent University.

The MASK E3 Institute approach aims to build social and emotional skills in children while helping the school create a positive climate and atmosphere in a manner that helps teachers and school administrators meet educational standards. A school-wide approach on positive social-emotional skills creates an educational environment that prepares children to be “ready to learn”. This customized curriculum is based on contemporary trends as it relates to the challenges faced by today’s youth and their families. Our goal is to improve school climate, build healthy children, and strengthen parent-child bonds through psychoeducational information, E3 lessons, classroom-based reinforcement activities, and education on current trending topics through the MASK E3 Institute and MASK The Magazine.

The MASK E3 Institute is an on-going approach to prevention educating parents, children and the community as no family or zip code is immune.

MASK works with K-12 school districts and community partners to build healthy, independent K-12 students, recognizing that a strong foundation is needed for elementary, middle, and high school success; and college preparation. In an effort to prepare every child to thrive, MASK strives to build relationships with schools who are invested in developing the whole child through social emotional learning.
